Hurricane Politics

After the debacle that was the federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina ("Heckuva job Brownie!...) a few years back President Obama and his political advisers are clearly determined to make Obama look like G.I. Joe in the aftermath of the comparatively weak Hurricane Irene...

Is it overkill, having him show up at FEMA, cut short his vacation, etc. etc. etc.? Of course it is...

But we are heading into an election year, and the guy is looking for any edge he can get.  Being the 'anti-Dubya' with regards to Hurricane response is all upside...

Gaddafi had Condi Fetish

You know what?  We're both pretty weird!!
Bizarre Condi Rice Photo Album Found At Gaddafi Compound...

Man, Gaddafi really was a weird dude....

Condi Rice?

Stick a Fork in Palin

Unsurprisingly Sarah Palin has managed to stay too long at the party and has started to annoy people.

You see, that's what White Trash does...

Hers was always a really weird phenomenon anyway: part reality show, part American Idol...part car crash.

Just a really dumb chick who managed to become governor of an unpopulated, strange state who was thrust into national prominence out of the blue...

Seems like people are finally saying, "Enough..."--about three years too late but whatever...

Will she ever just go away though??

On Welfare and Foreclosure

Is being in default on your house (not paying your mortgage for months) pretty much the same thing as being on government welfare?

I mean, both are basically accepting handouts and not 'working' for them:  one group from the government, and the other group from the banks (who the American taxpayer recently bailed out, anyway...).

What does everyone out there think?

Texas GOP Candidate Compares Welfare Recipients/Obama Supporters to Donkeys

another example of the sheer depravity of today's political debate.  Thank you, Tea Party--

Texas GOP Congressional Candidate Compares Welfare Recipients To Donkeys In New Ad

Former TX Secretary of State and GOP congressional candidate Roger Williams
Former Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams is running for Congress on a staunchly anti-Obama, anti-government platform. He recently came out with a new video ad called “The Donkey Whisperer” that’s raising a lot of eyebrows for conflating Democrats with welfare recipients and comparing them to donkeys.
In the video, Williams is interacting with donkeys and chastises them with words like, “All these guys want is more shelter, more feed. [...] You want a handout.” At one point Williams says, “They keep thinking that Obama is going to take care of them, Obama is going to feed them.” “These donkeys don’t live in the United States of France,” he exclaims, “they live in the United States of America!”
Watch it:

Popout

According to the Austin-American Statesman, “Williams is getting a lot of praise from conservatives on Twitter for his new web ad.” Williams was appointed by current presidential contender Gov. Rick Perry (R) and served as Texas Secretary of State from 2005 to 2007.
“The Donkey Whisperer” is prominently featured on the candidate’s website. Though Williams professes to be aiming at Democrats generally (hence the donkey metaphor), it’s clear from his rhetoric that the real subjects of his ridicule are people who want more government aid (“more shelter…more feed…a handout”). Either Williams believes all Democrats are seeking a handout, or he is actually poking fun at welfare recipients.
In the video, Williams also complains the the government is “taxing me to death” — which should evoke limited sympathy coming from a self-proclaimed successful businessman who inherited his father’s car dealership.

Huntsman Stirs--Poised to Become Media Darling

Look out for me in 2016
It happens every presidential election....the media searches and finally finds their media darling, fall in love...and then eventually break up and shit all over that very same person...

Think Howard Dean, John McCain....Mike Huckabee....It's happening again in real time with the only GOP moderate running, former Utah governor and ambassador to China (under Obama, no less...) Jon Huntsman...

The former Utah Governor's Twitter musings has been credited with having helped give his campaign a spark....however, he doesn't do his own Tweeting

Look for this guy to make noise in New Hampshire....

Ted Nugent 'Giddy' Over Perry Run

I will gouge out your eyes and then drink your brain...
Um...wow.  Ted Nugent is the maniac, mentally disturbed hero of the right wing nutjob wing of the Republican party....

If this country manages to have the necessary mass insanity type of moment required to elect a guy like Rick Perry as president....well then we deserve what we get.

10 to 1 Tax Pledge by GOP Candidates will be a Big Deal

We are not human. We are Tea Party Automatons.
Hmmmm....did FOX News inadvertently help cost the GOP the Presidency next year by having all the candidates make this pledge?

Obama and his political brain trust are smartly making hay out of this....expect it to be drilled into the public's head by next November

Ron Paul Can't Get Any Respect

This guy's situation running for president reminds me quite a bit of what Ralph Nader faced when he ran back in 2000.

The main stream media just refuses to take Ron Paul's candidacy seriously.  Which, in a way, is justified because there literally is a 0% chance that he actually wins the nomination--as was the case with Nader over a decade ago...

But still!  Make sure to watch Jon Stewart's take on all this below:

Romney Worth $250 Million

I'm Filthy Rich, and You're Not!!
Wow.  I knew the guy was rich...but a quarter of a billion dollars is a staggering amount....

Hmmm.  You think this guy can relate to being late on the rent or not having enough money to fill up the gas tank??

Romney: Corporations are People Too

Hypocrite? Millionaire Tea Party Florida Governor Scott Gets Subsidized Health Care

Poor Tim Pawlenty

The guy is actually one of two authentically electable GOP candidates currently running--the other being Mitt Romney, who might actually appeal to Independents in the general election.

But he can't seem to catch a break, and his once highly anticipated campaign for president has been more of a wet blanket to Iowa caucus goers than a house on fire.

Moreover, he's had to suffer the moral and historical indignity of having tried to morph himself from the moderate, reasonable, staid Minnesota midwestern governor who he really is

....to, for purely strategic reasons, now trying to out-crazy and out-Tea Bag the wild eyed fellow candidate Michele Bachmann..

Which, of course, then leads to the obvious question of why on God's Green Earth such a small, relatively radical, patently unrepresentative group of people from an infinitesimally small state like Iowa has such a big influence on our Presidential election system in the first place?

However, alas, Governor Pawlenty besides all of that: perhaps you should of just tried being yourself?

Rick Perry has Executed 25 as Texas Governor,

Oh yeah, and one of those people may very well have been innocent ...

Just what the country needs!  Another dumb violent barbarian governor from Texas for president!!

Don't Expect Much from this 'Super' Congressional Committee

It's a relatively bizarre concept, in the first place:  since when do the people give such universal powers to 6 random members of Congress 'super legislative' powers??

Let me take a wild guess: these guys will wind up being deadlocked at 3-3 on any major taxing and spending proposal to get our fiscal house back in order...

I'm not optimistic about this...how about you?

Meredith Whitney / Rick Santelli Spar over The Tea Party

Make sure you watch the video of this too...it's pretty funny.  Rick Santelli of CNBC has the unfortunate distinction of having coined the term 'Tea Party' during an anti-Obama rant over a year ago...he's clearly very sensitive of the fact that what Meredith Whitney said was spot on:  The Tea Party are made up of 99.99% of 'freaked out white guys'... many of whom are unemployed or under employed--and thousands of whom are paradoxically in default on their home mortgages, deeply in debt...etc.

But they're angry about 'all the government spending!'!!!

Whitney is the controversial Wall Street Analyst who has been very wrong recently on a bunch of things...Santelli refers to her so far incorrect call of droves of municipality bond defaults....

Rick, clearly she hit a sensitive spot...

Gingrich 'Dominates' in Iowa

Many Politicos point to the dickhead/boorish behavior of a young Newt Gingrich in the early 80's as the time that American politics really went into the gutter in terms of partisanship which still clearly afflicts our government to this very day...

Fast forward thirty years to today, and Newt Gingrich is clearly suffering from a delusional form of dementia.  I mean, does this guy actually think he could be elected the country's next president??  Probably not, but at least he'll garner modestly higher speaking fees because of his 'candidacy'....

Look closely at the picture to the right.  To me, Reagan is clearly asking himself, "Who the hell is this little asshole?"...

Tim Pawlenty: Dead Candidate Walking

Yeah this guy is basically just going through the motions these days--but who knows Mitt Romney or Rick Perry may just choose this boring, staid Minnessota politician as their running mate next summer after its all said and done...

Poor guy, he got shafted four years ago when McCain puzzlingly chose Sarah Palin over him for Veep.  And then this year Michele Bachmann came from left field (or the Planet Zulu, where she'd been hanging out with Palin) to catch fire in Iowa....

The thing is, this is a guy lots of Independents and non fire breathing right wingers could actually vote for for President... Just not in this Taliban GOP environment--

To quote a Frank Sinatra song...for Pawlenty..."And now, the end is near...."

Must Read: How Obama Plans to Take Down Romney

This is a great, great read and I recommend it for anyone interested in the upcoming presidential election....

Far and away the most astonishing/disqualifying thing that Romney has done in my eyes is strapping the family dog to the roof of their car for a 12 hour road trip.

That is utterly berserk.

What does everyone else think??
