Quote of The Day: President Obama 06/29/11 at Press Conference

“I’ve said to some of the Republican leaders: you go talk to your constituents, the Republican constituents, and ask them, are they willing to compromise their kids’ safety so that some corporate-jet owner continues to get a tax break?” Mr. Obama said. “I’m pretty sure what the answer would be.”

Michele Bachman Confuses Mass Murderer and Hollywood Star

You really can't make this up.  And if Michele Bachman was trying to solidify her early role as the Sarah Palin of this election cycle, she literally couldn't be doing a better job....
In fact, the actor John Wayne (real name, Marion Morrison) was from Iowa, but not from Waterloo -- he was from Winterset, Iowa, about 120 miles away. But as it turns out, there was another "John Wayne" with some history in Waterloo: Serial killer John Wayne Gacy, known as the "Killer Clown," who raped and murdered over 30 young men before he was finally incarcerated and put to death.
The shocking thing  is that this woman is poised to win the GOP Iowa primary!

Romney Destroying Field in Fundraising

Nothing too shocking here as Romney himself is filthy rich and he has thousands of rich friends and supporters from his last run three years ago.

We can expect a 'darkhorse' candidate to emerge within the coming months who the media will fall in love with, and who will ostensibly 'challenge' Romney, but the smart money is still on Mitt taking the nomination pretty comfortably....

And sorry Herman Cain, it's not going to be you and your 15 minutes of fame are quickly coming to an end--you don't pass the laugh test....

Money, remember, is the mother's milk of American politics... And Romney's got plenty of it.

Chastened Pawlenty Goes After Romney

This is kind of funny...  Tim Pawlenty has spent the last two years trying to transform himself from the moderate, soft spoken Republican governor of a traditionally blue state that he truly is, into a fire breathing Tea Party right winger / wingnut...

And then he gets lobbed a softball in the debate last week--perfectly primed to go after Mitt Romney and his evil health care plan....and he gets all deer in the headlights and whiffs!!!

Let's be clear here: Pawlenty is running for nothing more than VP anyway, but still....just shows you really can't change the spots on a leopard...  Memo to Pawlenty: Just be yourself and see what happens...

Bachman, Cain, Paul: The GOP Nuisance Candidates

You can be assured that big moneyed Republican insiders cringe inside when either of the above three 'presidential candidates' get attention either in the media or via participating in the nominating debates....

You see, all three represent the loopy wingnut section of the party....and all three have an approximately 0% chance of winning the nomination...

As a matter of fact, when you drill down a bit, you see that really one person--maybe two of the 8 or so 'declared candidates' has even a snowballs chance in hell of winning:  Mitt Romney of course, and then either Jon Huntsman or Tim Pawlenty.  And Pawlenty is a stretch.  He's more running for VP.

But Bachman, Cain, and Paul are total wastes of time--each running more to increase their speaking engagement fees than actually becoming the nominee...

Oh yeah, and all three are weird and bombastic--just what the party doesn't need to woo the crucial Independent voters who actually decide general elections....

Gore Praises Romney on Climate Change

Who's more tree like?
With friends like this...does Mitt Romney really need enemies?

Seriously, though, this will do nothing to ingratiate Romney to the lunatic fringe of the right wing of the Republican party.  You know, the pigeons who listen to Rush Limbaugh three hours a day and then vote in lockstep for whoever he tells them to come election day....

Rush Limbaugh to Dittoheads: "Drink cyanide laced kool-aid and jump off bridge"  = Dittohead mass suicide...

And perhaps there is no one more loathed by these fire breathing tea party freaks than Al Gore.  Why?  Who knows, maybe because he had temerity to contest the 2000 presidential election that he rightly won and then was stolen from him??

Imagine the nerve!

But this is really a political masterclass on Gore's part...by praising Romney on global warming, he is in really taking a hatchet to him to all the wingnuts....

Al Gore 2016?

Enter Huntsman

Huntsman also has the required hot blonde wife...
Of all the candidates for the GOP nomination Jon Huntsman is perhaps the most intriguing...

Tea Partier, he is not.

The guy is right out of central casting with regards to looking like a president, which is very very important these days.  He speaks fluent Mandarin, just like George W. Bush did.  That last part was a joke.

Dubya couldn't point to China on a map, of course....

But Huntsman's also incredibly wealthy and a moderate...  A moderate Republican!  A dying breed.  A white tiger....The rarest of current breeds.

If Romney doesn't win the nomination.....Jon Huntsman just might.

Video: Bill Maher, The Weiner Texts

Get Used to Hearing the Word "Obomneycare"

And it's not a particularly pleasant word, is it?
American 'political discourse', 2011

But that's what American politics has come to these days: simple Twitter sized insults and name calling designed to influence the pigeon masses....

For the politically naive, the word is a combination of "Obamacare" and "Romneycare"--the health care plan that GOP front runner Mitt Romney implemented in Massachusetts in 2006 when he was governor there.

2006.  In other words a few years before the very unfortunate advent of the Tea Party, which made anything involving the government trying to control health care prices a total political non starter for the Republican party and anyone aspiring to be its leader.

So Romney's rivals for the nomination hope to hang "Obomneycare" around his neck like a millstone...

He'll still win the nomination though.

Weiner: Should He Stay or Should He Go?

Personally, the frequency and sheer stupidity of what he did suggests that Representative Weiner is too reckless and blind to responsibly serve such an important job....

Bill Clinton did some pretty reckless and stupid things too while in office though...and in a much more important gig than Weiner's...

Remember him?  Pretty good president, created 10 million jobs, left office with massive budget surplus...

Alas, I digress...

What say you on Rep. Weiner?  Should he stay or should he go??

Palin Rains on Romney's Parade

Trust me, the Republican party hierarchy rues the day that a doddering, reckless, and clearly half senile John McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his running mate one fateful summer day in 2008.

Thus propelling this white trash, ignorant, vapid narcissist into the world political vernacular.

And like a virulent kudzu vine on steroids, Sarah Palin just refuses to go away....

She showed up on her motorcycle tour of the east coast in Boston the other day to stick her thumb in the eye of establishment front runner Mitt Romney who was officially announcing his candidacy for President on the same day one state over in New Hampshire....

Never mind that nearly everyone on the entire political spectrum, from the liberal left to Barbara Bush and George Will considers Palin to be the total joke that she is....Sarah listens to no one but herself.

No doubt the Obama political machine thinks that she's the gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving....

Like a really bad Energizer Bunny gone badly awry....For the Republican party that is.

Christie Heads to Iowa

Trump...Mitch Daniels......Now it's New Jersey governor Chris Christie!

The GOP 2012 savior of the day!!!

My advice for Christie is to immediately lose 50lbs...  In this day and age I have a hard time believing the American people will vote in a fat slob as Commander in Chief--
